The thin egg membranes inside any pipped or partially hatched eggs can dry out easily, known as shrink-wrapping and locking the chick inside the egg.Button Quail may begin hatching as early as day 14, and typically finish hatching by day 18.A spray bottle can also be used to lightly spray the eggs when preparing the incubator for lockdown. Warm-hot water should be added to the incubator to raise the humidity to 55-65%. We highly recommend placing down a layer of newspaper to absorb excess water and a layer of grip shelf liner on top to allow chicks to get their footing and significantly reduce the risk of splayed leg. Day 14 (Lockdown): The eggs no longer need to be turned and can be prepared to hatch.Eggs should be turned every 3-4 hours until day 14. Incubator temperature should be set to 100☏. The relative humidity (RH) should be close to 45%, although 35% can be used for the dry hatching method. If incubated during AM hours, the day the eggs are incubated is counted as day 1. The first day that the eggs are placed in the incubator would becounted as day 0 if the eggs were incubated during PM hours, with the second day counted as day 1.
